Dr. Roberta C. Romero brings a distinguished blend of clinical expertise, research excellence, and leadership to the Foundation. She completed her postgraduate training in Dermatology under the Preceptorial Program of the Philippine Dermatological Society, further advancing her specialization through a WHO Training Course in the Immunology of Infectious Diseases in Lausanne, Switzerland. Her strong foundation in research was enriched by her work as a Research Fellow in Immunology at the Montreal General Hospital in Canada. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree with honors from the University of the Philippines, reflecting her longstanding commitment to academic and professional excellence.
Beyond her credentials, Dr. Romero has been instrumental in strengthening the Foundation’s operational and administrative systems. Following the passing of Dr. Thelma E. Her stewardship has ensured continuity in the Foundation’s mission and sustained its impact in public health.
In addition, Dr. Romero has made significant scholarly contributions, authoring numerous articles on leprosy, HIV in the Philippines, infectious diseases, acne, and the prevalence of skin diseases in the country. Her work continues to advance knowledge and inform practice, reinforcing her role as both a leader and a thought contributor in the field of infectious and dermatologic diseases.
