Clinical Research During Outbreaks (CREDO)

The Clinical Research During Outbreaks (CREDO) Training Programme is an initiative of the International Severe Acute Respiratory and Emerging Infections Consortium (ISARIC), designed to equip researchers in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs) with the skills needed to generate clinical evidence during infectious disease outbreaks and facilitate networking and the sharing of resources, and thus improve national response to disease outbreaks.

The TDF (ISARIC Southeast Asia Hub) is implementing the course for research teams across Southeast Asia over a five-year period, which commenced last year. Participants primarily work in hospitals or related institutions and include infectious disease physicians, infection control officers, nurses, pharmacists, data managers, and microbiologists.

The course starts with a self-paced online component consisting of 10 modules, supported by weekly facilitated sessions. This is followed by interactive face-to-face workshops, during which participants work together to develop a research plan based on a simulated outbreak scenario. The programme concludes with a panel presentation of the developed research plans.

Training on Community-based HIV Screening

Aims to strengthen the capacity of healthcare workers, peer educators, and community-based organizations in delivering safe, ethical, and effective HIV screening services at the community level. It focuses on expanding access to HIV testing among key and priority populations, particularly those who face barriers to facility-based services.

Participants will be equipped with essential knowledge and skills on HIV basics, risk assessment, pre- and post-test counseling, proper use of screening tools (including rapid diagnostic tests), and linkage to confirmatory testing and treatment services. The training will also emphasize confidentiality, informed consent, stigma reduction, and adherence to national guidelines.

Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, Expressions, and Sexual Characteristics

This training aims to enhance the knowledge, attitudes, and competencies of participants on gender sensitivity and the principles of Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression, and Sex Characteristics (SOGIESC). It is designed to promote inclusive, respectful, and non-discriminatory environments in workplaces and community-based settings.

The training will cover foundational concepts of gender and sexuality, common myths and misconceptions, and the lived experiences of individuals of diverse SOGIESC. It will also address the impact of stigma, discrimination, and structural barriers on access to essential services, particularly in health and social service delivery.

Participants will be guided on applying gender-sensitive and rights-based approaches in their work, including the use of inclusive language, ensuring confidentiality, and creating safe spaces. Relevant national policies and organizational standards on gender equality and non-discrimination will also be highlighted.

Legal Literacy: RA11166 or HIV and AIDS Policy Act of 2018

This training aims to strengthen participants? understanding of the legal framework governing HIV prevention, testing, treatment, and care in the Philippines, as outlined in the HIV and AIDS Policy Act of 2018. It is designed for healthcare workers, program implementers, and community-based organizations to ensure compliance with national laws and protection of clients? rights.

The training will cover key provisions of the law, including informed consent, confidentiality and data privacy, prohibition of discrimination, age of consent for HIV testing, and access to HIV-related services. It will also discuss the roles and responsibilities of service providers, institutions, and local government units in implementing HIV programs.
