The TDF Laboratory is a specialized diagnostic and research facility supporting programs in tuberculosis (TB) and HIV. With extensive experience in laboratory diagnostics, clinical research, and public health service, the laboratory operates under strict biosafety and quality management standards and adheres to Good Clinical Laboratory Practices (GCLP) and WHO-endorsed protocols.
Our Services:
AFB Microscopy – TDF Laboratory performs AFB Microscopy utilizing fluorescence staining for the immediate detection of infectious Tuberculosis cases. This essential service ensures timely diagnosis and treatment monitoring in strict accordance with international laboratory standards.
TB Culture – Our laboratory offers the gold standard in diagnostic sensitivity, TB Culture, allowing for the isolation and growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis even in low-concentration samples. This method is critical for confirming active TB.
Anti-TB DST (Drug Susceptibility Testing) – Anti-TB DST identifies which specific antibiotics are most effective against a patient’s unique TB strain, providing a roadmap for personalized treatment. By detecting resistance to first-line and second-line drugs, we empower clinicians to manage even the most complex Drug-Resistant TB cases.
IGRA (Interferon-Gamma Release Assay) – IGRA is a blood test used to detect latent Tuberculosis infection by measuring the immune system’s response to TB-specific proteins. Unlike traditional skin tests, IGRA provides objective results that are not affected by previous BCG vaccinations.
GeneXpert (MTB/RIF) – The GeneXpert platform offers revolutionary molecular testing that simultaneously detects TB DNA and resistance to anti-TB drugs within just a few hours. This rapid technology significantly reduces the turnaround time for diagnosis, allowing patients to start the correct treatment regimen almost immediately.
NTM Speciation – Our NTM Speciation service accurately differentiates between various species of Non-Tuberculous Mycobacteria, which often mimic the symptoms of traditional TB. Proper identification is vital, as NTM infections require specialized antibiotic treatments that differ significantly from standard TB protocols.
HIV Viral Load Testing – HIV Viral Load testing measures the amount of virus in the blood to monitor the effectiveness of Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) and ensure long-term health. By providing precise quantification, we help clinicians confirm viral suppression and detect potential treatment failure early.
